Wheatgrass Seeds

$13.99

Sweet, grassy wheatgrass for juicing, ready in 7 to 10 days. 16 oz resealable pouch.

Description

Wheatgrass is grown for juicing rather than the salad bowl: bright green blades with a sweet, grassy taste, cut and pressed while young. It germinates in two to four days and is ready in seven to ten.

Wheat berries are soaked, sprouted for a day and then grown on a shallow tray of soil or a soil-free mat. Cut the grass just above the seed line and it will often give a second, lighter harvest.

Growing Information

  • Light: Full sun to part shade, or bright indoor light
  • Germination: 2 to 4 days
  • Planting Depth: Spread over a shallow tray of soil or a growing mat

How to Sprout

  1. Rinse the grain and soak it in clean water for 8 to 12 hours.
  2. Drain and leave it in a jar for a further day, until small tails appear.
  3. Spread it evenly over a shallow tray of moist soil or a growing mat.
  4. Cover for the first two days, then uncover and grow in bright light.
  5. Water once daily and harvest in 7 to 10 days, cutting just above the seed line.
  6. Rinse the cut grass and juice it fresh.
